Djibo FM is a pioneering radio project in the north of Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Background
We are ABEDD*, a Christian charity which is based in Djibo town and run by locals. We are planning to set up a radio station in Djibo.
Djibo is the capital of its province and boasts a busy weekly cattle market. The biggest tribe in the region are the Fulani, a semi-nomadic people group who herd cattle and sheep.
The Fulani people are desperately poor and they are almost entirely unreached by the message of Jesus.
Djibo has no radio station. People can listen to SW stations broadcasting in French or English, but there is a need for local radio in local languages. ABEDD hopes to fill this need. We propose to broadcast programs of local interest in local languages, with a particular focus on the language of the Fulani. We will divide programming between Christian, social and community material.
* ABEDD stands for 'Association Bethel pour l'Entraide et Development de Djibo' - Bethel charity for mutual aid and development in Djibo
