World Cup Qualifiers Spectacular
While my home town of Cardiff was invaded by the hordes who came to see England take a narrow 1-0 win over Wales, a much more exciting match was taking place in Ouagadougou, where Burkina Faso trounced South Africa 3-1.
Although Burkina were already out of the running, the result has all but ruled South Africa out of qualifying for next year's World Cup Finals in Germany.
Felicitations, les Etalons!

I liked the remark the writer made about the Stallions resorting to time wasting with intention of inflicting further pain. Toying with their opponents; how unkind. *smile*
Nice little post, Keith.

Ah Keith! But it's the oval ball that Cardiff's built for ... exists for! I cut my rugby teeth on the All Blacks - Barbarians game of '73, when it was basically the Welsh back line wot done it ...
Blessings as always!

I was there, and it was indeed an evening to remember. The South African fans had plastic trumpets and made a lot of noise during the first half. Five minutes into the second half they went down 3-0 and started handing their trumpets over the barriers to Burkinabe fans, who blew them with great gusto. It was all very good natured.
