Burkina Faso could sue the US!
Apparently, Burkina Faso and other West African cotton-growing countries are considering taking legal action against the US and its cotton subsidies, which are undermining the economies of poorer countries like Burkina.
Africast reports:
"African countries on Thursday warned they may launch a legal challenge over subsidies to cotton producers in rich countries, notably the United States, after the collapse of talks aimed at making global commerce fairer."
The countries are talking with Brazil, which won an earlier legal challenge to America's illegal cotton subsidies.

Good on them! About time African nations stood up to the big bad guys on trade. Perhaps they have been encouraged by the Doha round collapsing. I know many saw the break-down of the WTO trade talks a tragedy, I am quite jubilant! I wouldn't be disappointed if there wasn't a sucessful trade talk again until the rich conceed to support trade justice, not for what they'll get in return but in recognition of what they've taken all these years.

I linked to your site from Blog eat Blog because the name was so interesting. I did some research on Burkina Faso last year. My 11 year old son's Sunday School Class sent some things to some children there and one wrote them back! I wish I could remember his name. The Sunday School Class is from Andrews South Carolina. Trinity United Methodist. He wrote a wonderful letter, so I researched the area for my son. Small world. God Bless you!
