The Wonderful World of Computers

My laptop computer having died a couple of weeks ago, I have now been told that Evesham, who made my desktop computer, have gone belly-up. It was reported to have gone into liquidation on 4th Jan, and stopped selling PCs from 8th Feb.

Having extolled the benefits of Evesham a few months ago in this post, I now feel a bit silly.

I only found out about Evesham when a company called Totalcare Support rang up. Being concerned for my loss of support now that the Evesham warranty is no good, they kindly offered me a totalcare support package for all my home digital stuff for "just 32p/day".

However, it seems - according to PCPro - that the owners of Totalcare Support are the very same former owners of Evesham, who guaranteed the warranty. Initial pledges to honour such warranties seems to have gone by the board. I think I'll give it a miss, thanks.

Funnily enough, there is no sign on the "latest news" section of the Evesham website of their problems, and they still appear to be taking orders.

Don't do it.
