Holiday Photos

At the end of Lynne's studies, we had a lovely two weeks holiday in France. Here are a few photos from the area around where we stayed. We were amazed at the stunning and varied scenery, and incredibly blessed by the wonderful people we met and who made us so welcome. Thank you especially to Eric and Annette and to Roger and Patricia, whose hospitality was so warm and generous.

As always, you can click on the photos to get larger versions.

Vernet les Bains
A beautiful village down in the Catalan area of the Pyrennees, where we stayed for 10 days, thanks to Eric and Annette. The top photo was the view from our balcony! Bottom right was a traditional Catalan dance that took place one day in the market square.

Villefranche
Like a small Carcassonne, this picturesque walled town was just down the road from Vernet les Bains.

Mantet
They call Mantet "the end of the world". The road to it winds frighteningly up the mountain side, with a long drop on one side, and once you get there, there is no road beyond it, just mountain paths off to Spain...

St Martin's Monastery
The Monastery of St Martin du Canigou was an exhausting walk up a mountain, but well worth the walk!

Collioure
We went down to the coast one day and came across Collioure, with a fascinating harbour area.

Laboule
After Vernet, we stayed in Laboule with Roger and Patricia for the last 5 days of our holiday, and had a lot of lovely walks and drives around the Ardeche region.

Balazuc
From Laboule it was a 40m drive to this "village de charactere" perched on the hillside.

Out and About
And of course there were lots of walks in the forests and hills, and drives out into the country...

We had a great time - a much-needed break, and are now gearing up for our return to Burkina. But before we leave, we hope to see some of you in France and the UK! Check out HERE to find out where we will be.
