Making a Difference
Lynne and I have been very blessed recently to get to know Erik and Anette of the Acacia Village Catalan in the Pyrenees.
Having come across Under the Acacias and the Acacia Partnership Trust online, Erik and Anette got in touch with us. They used to organise overland travel in Africa, and have visited Burkina Faso. They have various projects that they are involved in to try and make a difference, including solar cookers. They are also planning motorcycle tours through Morocco, and part of their goal is to raise funds for a few projects:
- a) to fight malaria www.againstmalaria.com
b) to help equip a village doctor in Ourika
c) for the Acacia Partnership Trust : globetrotters justgiving page
Lynne and I had a lovely holiday at the Acacia Village Catalan at the end of Lynne's studies, and really enjoyed getting to know Erik and Annette, and finding a meeting of hearts with people who want to live their lives to make a difference. Lynne loves to say "our lives our not just for ourselves - we are to live them for others". Or, as Jesus said: "the most important thing is to love God with everything you've got and to love those around you like you love yourself." (Mk 12:30-31).
(We can also thoroughly recommend the Acacia Village Catalan and the area - you can see some of our photos here.)
