School Details

  • General. The school will be open to all, regardless of religion, ethnic identity etc. It will be run as a Christian school, with daily morning prayers and a weekly worship service.

  • Location. The school will be on a 3 hectare (30,000 sq m) plot of land in a new development within the commune of Gorom-Gorom.

  • Administration. The school will be run by the national church, under the supervision of the government. It will be managed by a local management committee, composed of the local pastor, the head teacher, and others.

  • Classes. The school will eventually consist of 6 classes (one class per school year), with one teacher per class, and no more than 40 children per class. Year 1 will be recruited for the first year of the school opening, with one teacher. The school will then grow over the first six years to become fully functioning.

  • Curriculum. The curriculum follows the state guidelines, covering the basic educational priorities and also includes "Production Practice" - basic gardening/animal husbandry.

  • Teachers. Teachers are recruited and trained by the national church. They are paid by at an appropriate level, set nationally by the church, in accordance with government guidelines.

  • Food. A meal will be provided at midday. It is hoped that the World Food Programme may contribute grain and oil. This would need to be supplemented by purchases by the school. The school also has to pay the cook.
