Apprenez Fulfulde

Well, finding this link has made my day.

Fulfulde.com is a comprehensive online guide to learning Fulfulde. It consists of 34 excellent lessons and 492 audio samples. The site is well-designed and easy to navigate. Brilliant.

The site teaches you the Fulfulde of northern Cameroon, which is significantly different to the Fulfulde dialects found over here in Burkina Faso. But similar enough to be recognizable.

Here is an example of the Fulfulde.com audio files. O hokki debbo makko gertogal means 'He gave his wife a chicken'.

My favourite part of the site is the story of the Hyena and the Blacksmith. You can hear a Fulani woman telling the story sentence by sentence, and follow the trabslation in French.

Don't worry, I will not abandon the Fulfulde lessons here on Voice in the Desert. I will continue to serve up regular (if arbitrary) slices of Fulfulde for your linguistic delight.
